Volunteer at Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre
Have fun while discovering and sharing the wonders of wetlands!
Volunteers are an essential part of non-profit Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre! Without volunteers, we could not continue to work towards our mission - fostering public awareness and knowledge of the inherent values of wetlands and associated ecosystems, and to encourage public support for their conservation through innovative education and outreach programs.
Volunteering for the Interpretive Centre is a fun way to learn about wetlands and wildlife, help teach others about these important habitats, and work in a world-class nature facility!
You can participate in a variety of ways:
- Resource maintenance: become a trail ambassador by helping maintain trails and signs, and participate in upkeep and semi-annual clean-up
- Resource interpretation: assist with guided walks, illustrated talks, seasonal workshops, conferences and special events.
- Administration/office assistance: provide administrative assistance through mailings, word processing, filing and other duties.
- Fundraising: help raise funds for the Interpretive Centre through activities like fundraising calls, special event planning and assistance, and in-kind solicitation.
Led by a volunteer Board of Directors, the Interpretive Centre is committed to supporting our volunteers and providing them a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment in return for all their hard work and dedication.
